Motion Sensors

This section provides an overview about the CRAIVE-Lab's motion capture system featuring the 6-channel Xbox Kinect array.

Under Development

Currently, the motion tracking system is being integrated into the overall infrastructure as a permanent component. The documentation below presents some basic ways to set it up. However, please check back to this page frequently for the latest update.

Basic Facts

Properties
Description

Sensor Type

Xbox Kinect V2 (2017)

Sensor Count

6

Sensing Range

W 8m x L 10m (off-center); subject to change upon permanent integration

Capability

Basic position and orientation tracking of up to 10 individuals

Description

The motion sensing system is developed as a result of previous research in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering (ECSE), and has been adopted for increased sound source position tracking precision at the CRAIVE-Lab. Its control mechanism is completely separate from the rest of the infrastructural components, powered by separate switch and operated on a computer independent from the visual and audio machines.
